Valley Forge & Seige of Boston

Lyman Letters-1.jpg

The first collection is a four page letter written from Valley Forge by Lewis Lyman to his brother in New York on September 2, 1776.

The second letter is from Eldad Taylor to his wife in March of 1776 when the New England Militia (latter Continental Army) surrounded Boston to prevent British military from moving. Led by George Washingont, this eleven month seigh was broken by General Knox's ability to capture and bring heavy artilery down from Fort Ticonderoga through Westfield to Dorchester Heights. The British evacuated Boston on March 17, 1776.
